I really connected with this ad for George Lopez’s new late night talk show on TBS. The ad had that certain something that really makes it special. It took something that I have no interest in (George Lopez’s new late night talk show on TBS) and reminded me why I have no interest in that something. That’s what ads are supposed to do, right?
This ad is prophetic in a way — I’m sure that George Lopez’s new show is something most of America will soon relate to the rough, musky smell of urine.
It's like a Lite-Brite gone bad.
In George Lopez’s and TBS’s defense, the idea for the ad is that someone could laugh so hard listening to George Lopez talk about Paris Hilton and the Taco Bell menu that the person’s bladder could also laugh. This “bladder laughing” is known as peeing for those not part of the medical field.
I’m not sure why the pee formed George Lopez’s face. Maybe it was trying to leave a clue for the police? Or maybe George Lopez’s mother was walking in the woods one day, and she was drinking one of those giant fountain sodas from WaWa or 7-eleven. She got really far into the woods and couldn’t find her way back, but she really had to pee from the fountain soda. She tried to hold it in, (ironically, much like I try to hold in my disgust when I see a George Lopez commercial) but she couldn’t and ended up urinating on the forest floor.
At that moment, something magical happened. Doctors aren’t sure if it was the fountain soda laced with LSD or the pattern of the leaves on the ground, but the pee formed the face of a small child. She looked down and knew that one day her son’s face would soak a pair of flat-front khakis. It was magical.
I guess this could be worse. Carlos Menica could be getting his own show on TBS. The ad for that show would be a person holding a plastic bag full of shit over his face. The tag line would read — “Mencia Tonight: So funny you’ll shit in a bag and try to smother yourself.”
